Alternative London Walking Tour

A couple days ago I went on the two hour Alternative London Walking Tour in East London, and it easily exceeded my expectations and lived up to its online hype. Our guide Josh, a street artist himself, was energetic and knowledgable with quite a contagious enthusiasm – I only wish I wasn’t so cold. Starting and ending at Old Spitalfields Market, the tour geographically covers a small area of East London, but the content is huge, providing historical and political insights into the community and resulting public creativity. Not only did Josh give a wealth of information on visually obvious and well known pieces, but also pointed out some spectacular subtleties and lesser known personal favorites. I definitely plan on both experiencing the night tour and redoing the walking tour in the future as an obvious beauty of street art is the temporality rooted within the canvas and cultural evolution. The below pictures are only a very small sample of this East London landscape.

Tip: Bring cash as the tour is tip based!
