Candlelight

This past weekend was our last together and in Paris, wrapping up a fabulous French summer. Rather than going out of town as originally discussed, we decided to see more of Paris and the immediate area, for all to do and see in Paris is undeniably limitless. On Saturday we took a short train ride to Melun, a few stops before Fontainebleau, then a bus to Nicolas Fouquet’s Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. Every other Friday during the summer, the Château has fireworks after dark over landscape architect André le Notre’s gardens. Though incomparable in scale, I think we both admittedly preferred Vaux-le-Vicomte’s garden’s over Versailles – a lesser known weekend retreat and perfect escape from Paris.
